The local trucking is usually the same as the other types of truck driving, the only difference is that you are rarely required to stay out for long weeks or overnight.

It is already possible today that while in a CDL truck driver job, you can achieve satisfactory work-home balance. Many drivers who are working on a long distance route are still a big problem to a large extent. Some companies are good to work with than others. With the short fall of truck drivers, it will be up to the companies to take care of their own drivers. If the company is wise enough, they should take their drivers’ interests seriously that way they can develop their drivers’ loyalty, hence, no matter what happens, the driver will not leave empty loaded. The company should have organized schedule for their drivers to let them know when they will be on the road or when it is time for the drivers to go home to their families.

Many employers now are realizing that the only way that they can address their problems on the low rate of drivers’ retention that is going on in the industry is to make the drivers happy and comfortable with the company they work for. The company also needs to have a restructure on all their tuck driver jobs to allow their drivers to choose what route they like or want. If there are drivers who want the long distance haul, then assign them there. Some drivers will also want the short haul, then so be it. Those who like the long distance haul will be able to adjust their time to the job already. They will be sure to enjoy their travel from the coast and up the mountains. This will add to their adventures while they are working on a long distance driving job.

On the other hand, those who wants the short distance driving job, they will enjoy the more time they have at home because their work requires them to be at home during the evening and it is rarely that they will have an overnight driving job. There are also who wants the regional driving job for the chance of having a combination of the long and short distance driving. It surely is an exciting job and without this truck drivers that keep the trucking industry moving the United States’ economy will slow down as well as the drivers do.
