Are Trucking Jobs For You?


Trucking jobs are not exactly popular, as most young people prefer white collar jobs than blue collar jobs. But, with limited employment opportunities, trucking jobs are becoming attractive again. Why? Because the job seekers are convinced that trucking jobs can give them a good pay while they enjoy going around and give them the chance to see the country. The young people are the prime candidate for the jobs with the reason that most of them are single; they are not tied up to their families, so there is no hassle. Most of the large freight carriers are looking for truck drivers who are not tied down to a family for the main reason that their work do not have a specific time like in the office that you go to work at eight o’clock in the morning then go home at five o’clock in the evening. For truck drivers, if the place of their deliveries is far then even during the night, they are working.

Today, there is a great demand for new truck drivers. Many trucking companies need new recruit drivers in order to keep their freight moving and operating either by land or by sea. We all know that products needs to be transported in order for consumers to avail of them in order to keep the truck going they need young drivers to do the job.
With the scarcity of truck drivers, many companies are offering attractive salaries, sign on bonuses and other benefits and incentives including medical and dental. They also offer paid holiday and sick leaves new licensed drivers who are promising can choose from different freight companies. Most of the time, young license drivers just after finishing their training already have jobs waiting for them. Many companies are so desperate to have a new young license drivers to fill up their many vacancies. Due to the nationwide shortage of truck driver, freight companies are offering high compensation and benefit for qualified young applicants and to attract more applicants unlike before when drivers are all paid with very minimal salaries and most of the time no benefits but today, this is the most promising job for the young generation and it is also one of the most highly paid jobs especially those who spend their time traveling all year round.

With shortage of truck drivers, and plenty of trucking jobs available, there is an ongoing trend among large trucking businesses to train their own drivers. For these companies to have enough drivers for all their trucks they provide their own training facilities, to improve professional skills of the recruited drivers. These companies consider this strategy as an effective way to fill up their truck driving job vacancies in surveys made, companies whose trucker are parked in the companies parking area waiting for drivers but without any qualification, young men and women to fill up the vacancy, this will hamper the operation of the company. If this will go on for a longer period, it will give a negative effect on the earnings of this freight companies but with companies having their own training schools, it has opened the door for promising young drivers who are not capable of paying their fees to private truck driving schools. Here their fees paid by the company in exchange of their signing of a two to three years working contract.

These drivers who will fill the trucking jobs vacancies are well trained and they can meet already the CDL standard. They are given first priority for the main reason that drivers are always on the road which is safety hazard, especially for truck drivers. After their training, these promising and energetic young drivers are ready and confident enough to drive and travel on their own.
For drivers who are already on the road for a very long period of time, they may have a refresher course before they can be absorbed to a new trucking job. This is to make sure that he is updated on the current road rules and regulation and so that he will be also updated with his or her obligation as a professional truck driver.
Owner/operators are also in demand, and trucking jobs they perform are of vital importance to the industry. As the economy evolves, so will the working conditions and demand for qualified truckers. But, it’s safe to say, great employment opportunities will always be there.
